Exhaustion involves general physical weakness and one's inability to show ones own normal performances. A person can feel exhausted due to overwork, exposure to high temperature, stress, depression, anxiety and for a number of various reasons. Symptoms of exhaustion can be classified into two categories
1. Physical symptoms of exhaustions exhaustion.
2. Mental symptoms of exhaustion.

Causes of physical exhaustion:
Our body maintains its temperature by circulating blood, which is totally controlled by the brain. Symptoms of exhaustion can often be seen. The fluid of the body along with its salts is diffused out of the skin in form of sweat to reduce the temperature of the body by evaporation. This natural system of cooling works well when the temperature of the body is below 40°c and when once the temperature of the body rises above 40°c,the brain fails to control the temperature of the body and the other organs also fail to function. If no proper treatment is provided immediately to the person, it can lead to the person's death due to heat strokes. Physical exhaustion can take place due to overwork under sun, overdressing, over excising, exposure to high temperature(applicable for those persons who work near furnaces or in steamships and steam engines) Symptoms of extreme physical exhaustion is marked by un-rhythmic heart beats, breathing troubles ,muscle cramps and profuse sweating. Symptoms of physical exhaustion can also be induced from the measurement of salt levels present in the blood.
The immediate first aid that can be provided before the arrival of the doctor include
1. Move the person under fan and try to lower the person's temperature by placing ice
In the armpit and groin, regions and try to lay the person in the bed with the person's legs placed in the higher position than the head.
2. Remove the clothes and wrap the person with wet clothes.
3. Monitor the temperature of the person so that the temperature does not drop below
4. Injecting intravenous fluid in the patient's body.
5. If the person is conscious, the person should take solution of salt sugar and water
Or electrolytic solution. The person must not take any caffeine based drinks or
Alcohol because both dehydrate the body further.
A mental symptom of exhaustion is resulted from prolonged depression, anxiety, frustration, insomnia, and adrenal glands fatigue, effects of medicines or illness. Mental exhaustion also involves muscle fatigue. A person having inadequate sleep develops irritable mood, muscle fatigue and dark circles under the eyes.
Apparent symptoms of mental exhaustion include
3.Inability to focus on work
5. Dissatisfaction with everything.
6.Cannot enjoy life.
Patients of insomnia can experience micro-sleep, which typically lasts for 15secs to 30secs, and the individual experiencing it is not aware of it. Therefore, we have to take necessary actions each time after the symptoms of exhaustions are seen.
